on closing out this sale: words of gratitude
I hope I come across as calm, cool, and collected, but truthfully, each time I release a collection I hold my breath. It feels a bit like hosting a dinner party. I’ve sent the save-the-dates, gathered what I’ll need, repaired and polished the pieces that needed attention, arranged them with care, and set the mood with lighting and music in the form of reels and styling shots. The invitations have gone out, and everything is ready.
On the morning of the release, after I’ve done my hair and makeup, I start to fly around the house, my online store, making sure everything is just so. My mind hums with quiet panic: Will anyone show up? Are there any allergies? Do I have enough? Am I enough? Cue existential crisis. And then, suddenly, it’s time. I press “publish,” the email goes out, the door opens, and the party begins.
As people find their treasures, I’m filled with gratitude: for my guests, for the space I’ve created, and for the joy of adding a bit of beauty to someone’s morning and home. I picture each guest checking out, saying goodbye, taking their “to-go” box, and planning the next time we’ll meet.
I always end the day the same way I do after hosting in my home too: delightfully exhausted, content, and connected, cheeks sore from smiling all day long.
So today, as I sweep up the last bits of cardboard, bubble wrap, and packing tape, and return the remaining pieces to the shelves, I want to express my sincere appreciation for shopping the sale.
Next up we have a little pause for a family trip to Stowe before I jump into preparations for the Holiday drop along with a beautiful collection of baskets for Anna P. Jay, arriving on island just in time for the Stroll.
Thank you for supporting my business, my craft, and for being along for the ride as Parker River Proper continues to evolve.
I cherish this space, and it wouldn’t be what it is without you.
Warmly,
Katie
